How an RFID card works

An embedded antenna and chip transfer data to a reader without contact. Entering the reader's field powers the card, which sends its identifier and releases the lock or turnstile. No battery is involved.

Two frequency families exist: 125 kHz low frequency (EM4200, T5577) and 13.56 MHz high frequency (MIFARE, NTAG, LEGIC, ICODE). Encrypted 13.56 MHz is today's standard for access control.

Personalisation and encoding

UV printing, laser engraving, gold and silver foil, embossed numbering, QR and barcode, magnetic stripe and signature panel. Cards can be delivered pre-encoded with your sector keys so they are ready to issue on arrival.
